Angelique Kerber complains about the “lack of appreciation” from the Berlin tournament – Sport-Mix

Rumms!

Angelique Kerber (34) also wanted a crashing serve like after the game in the match. After her exit at the French Open in Paris, the former number 1 strengthened against the lawn tournament in Berlin, the Bett1 Open from June 13th to 19th.

Kerber: “I don’t play there because there is a lack of appreciation here and there. I would have liked other talks with Berlin.”

What’s going on there? In Berlin, Barbara Rittner (49), the women’s tennis boss at the DTB, is the tournament director. The two have always gotten along great. The tournament in Berlin is also well attended. Only one player is missing from the top 10, otherwise the world top is there. There is no better field in a Grand Slam either.

Only Kerber is missing. Rittner to BILD: “I am completely surprised by your statements. There were discussions with their management very early on. It’s by no means a low esteem.” Edwin Weindorfer (57), head of the organizer Emotions Group: “We made her a fair offer.”

According to BILD information, all the other players didn’t get one, but instead registered for the tournament because there aren’t too many events on grass before Wimbledon. Rittner: “I wish nothing more than that Angie plays for us. We’ll continue to keep her a wild card until the end. I hope things clear up.”

In any case, there was never a dispute with Kerber. “It’s our top priority. Everyone knows how I feel about Angie. She is the most important player for us.” However, Kerber is also an ambassador for the tournament in Bad Homburg, which is classified in a category below the Berlin tournament. Is that why the conflict is smoldering?

Would be strange, because Bad Homburg (June 20th to 26th) also has a strong cast. Tennis fans thus have two strong tournaments in a row. And there is enough space in the tennis calendar for both.
