Andrey Rublev masters Federico Delbonis and rushes to the third round of Roland-Garros

Everything was not perfect for Andrey Rublev, especially in the second lost set, but the Russian generally mastered his subject this Thursday against Federico Delbonis in the second round of Roland-Garros. The seeded number 7 of the tournament emerged victorious from his duel against the Argentinian in four sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3).

Rublev built his victory by being ultra-realistic in the important moments. The 24-year-old Muscovite broke in the eighth game of the first set before closing on his serve. He saved two break points in the third and only needed to press once in the fourth to escape.

Quarter-finalist two years ago but eliminated in the first round last season, Andrey Rublev therefore continues his Porte d’Auteuil path with the ambition of doing at least as well as in 2020. In the third round, he will be a once again favorite against the Chilean Cristian Garin.
