Alexander Blessin, former coach of Ostend, could become the new coach of Standard de Liège

Standard de Liège is still looking for a coach since the dismissal of Luka Elsner at the end of April. The Liège club is now in the hands of the American group 777 Partners and this should have an impact on the choice of coach. Indeed, the current coach of Genoa, Alexander Blessin could put his luggage at Standard. The Genoa, being a property of 777 Partners.

It was the Italian journalist Marco Conterio who gave this possibility this Saturday, April 30. Serie A club Genoa, who are currently 19th in the Italian league, are on course for relegation. The Genoese are only three points behind Cagliari, the first non-relegation player. In the event of the club’s descent into the second division, Alexander Blessin could leave for Sclessin and become Luka Elsner’s successor.

Alexander Blessin is already a regular in our championship. The German coach was the coach of Ostend for a season and a half before leaving for Italy in January 2022. In Genoa, his record is not necessarily in his favor: 2 small victories, 7 shares and 4 defeats. But his knowledge of the Belgian Championship could help him find a place in Liège.
