After three decades, the popular FIFA-licensed computer game will end

EA Sports officials say players will hardly notice the change. The company has a licensing agreement with more than 19,000 players, more than 700 clubs, more than 100 stadiums and 30 league competitions.

“As for what won’t be there, players will notice two things: the title and the World Cup-related content every four years. Besides, very little will change,” EA Sports Vice President David Jackson told the BBC.

EA has produced the FIFA game series since 1993. By 2021, it had sold over 325 million copies, making it the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s best-selling sports video game. According to the AP, many players associate the FIFA name with the game rather than the sports organization.
