7 Representatives of Indonesia to the Semifinals, Men’s Singles Out

KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian badminton team managed to send seven representatives to the individual semifinals in the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.

However, there were no men’s singles athletes among the seven Indonesian representatives who qualified for the semifinals of the 2021 SEA Games badminton individual numbers.

The Indonesian men’s singles, which played in the individual events, namely Christian Adinata and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, have been eliminated from the competition.

Christian Adinata has been eliminated since the round of 16. He lost to the deputy host, Nguyen Tien Minh.

Meanwhile, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo died after being defeated by Singapore’s men’s singles, Jia Heng Jason Teh, in the quarter-finals match, Friday (20/5/2022).

In addition to the two athletes in the men’s singles, Indonesia also lost one representative in the women’s doubles sector, namely Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani/Ribka Sugiarto.

Febby/Ribka had to stop the struggle in the quarter-finals after losing two straight games to the Thai pair, Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard.

Now the hope of Indonesian badminton is on the shoulders of the remaining seven representatives until the semifinals.

The seven Indonesian representatives who still survive and advance to the semifinals of the individual badminton SEA Games 2021 Vietnam are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (women’s singles), Putri Kusuma Wardani (women’s singles), and Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti (women’s doubles).

In addition, there are Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan (men’s doubles), Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin (men’s doubles), Adnan Maulana/Mychelle Crhystine Bandaso (mixed doubles), and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari (mixed doubles) .
