Vanderson proactive
He is the great architect of the Monegasque 3-2 victory on the lawn of Stade Rennais this Friday evening. Very active on his right side at the start of the match, Vanderson rewarded himself for his activity with a goal after a beautifully distilled ball by Golovin and a duel won over Meling. A match started on the hats of wheels with seven shots in the first 25 minutes. A pace which then dropped a little, especially in the second half with Rennes lost on the pitch but a pleasant meeting overall. Meling outdated
It would be dishonest to hold the Norwegian solely responsible as it was the defensive left side of Stade Rennais which was dominated as a whole. It would also be unfair not to say that in the system put in place by Bruno Genesio, Meling often finds himself very high, giving way to a three-man defense, even in midfield, but he remains the main responsible for the overactivity of Monaco in the right hallway. Meling especially loses his one against one against Vanderson, allowing the latter to equalize. Lack of chest and power, which was fatal on this action. No wonder he comes out early in this game. Replaced at the 57th by Truffert.
Laborde too discreet
A day without for the Stade Rennais striker. He certainly worked for the collective, but was never found in a good position in front. Only 39 balls touched for him in total during this match and 13 balls lost. No shot attempted for the center forward of Stade Rennais. They are only three holders in this case (Laborde, Meling, Omari). The former MHSC was logically replaced in the 71st by Guirassy, who tried his luck three times in 20 minutes.
Omari in trouble
Yet serious in recent weeks, Omari has been overtaken by his youth on this match. He, the right-hander, is aligned on the left today, alongside Santamaria, a training midfielder, and it shows. On the second Monegasque goal, Omari was too easily tricked into a duel by Ber Yedder, before letting the French striker slip away alone in front of the goal. He is sanctioned with a yellow card in the 85th minute for a late tackle on Volland.
