Mexico City. – From the hand of Job Castillo Galindo y Luis Armando Montoya Navarroin the men’s doubles category, Mexico won the gold medal at the closing of the XXV Pan American Individual Badminton Championship, which took place in San Salvador, El Salvador

The players, both representatives of Jalisco, prevailed in the final by a score of 22-20 and 11-8 against the United States team made up of Vinson Chiu y Joshua Yuanwho in the second set of the match chose to withdraw from the contest.

On their way to the golden metal, Castillo and Montoya surpassed Venezuela, the pair formed by Trinidad and Tobago and Guayana, Canada and finally the Americans.

With the gold medal in the men’s doubles modality, Mexico closed its participation in the Pan American Championship that took place from April 26 to 29 in the Salvadoran capital and that included the participation of 158 players.

For their part, in the singles category, Armando Gaitán and Luis Montoya culminated their performance in the round of 32, while Lino Muñoz did so in the 16 after losing to local Uriel Canjura 2-1; Job Castillo finished in the quarterfinals after being beaten by the Brazilian Ygor Coelho.

In the women’s branch, Sabrina Solís and Vanessa García finished in the round of 32 after losing to Canada and Guatemala, respectively; Haramara Gaitán closed her game in the quarterfinals by being defeated by Canadian Michelle Li 21-19 and 21-9.
