The Soria Basketball Club prepares for ‘its Cup’ CyL

The Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club will be Transler’s first rival in the Final Phase of the Castilla y León Cup, which, with the organization of the Soria Basketball Club and the Castilla y León Basketball Federation, will start this Friday at the San Andres Sports Center. The first competition of these characteristics organized by the Soria Basketball Club already has an official poster. The teams classified between sixth and ninth place in the Men’s First Division will fight in Soria for a title that last year was won precisely by the group from Palencia. This match between Transler and Club Baloncesto Palencia UEMC-San Remo is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. this Friday, April 29. Previously, specifically at 7:00 p.m., the La Flecha Basketball Club in Arroyo de la Encomienda (Valladolid) will face the El Lagar Basketball Restaurant in Venta de Baños (Palencia).

The Soria Basketball Club intends to respond to the confidence of the Basketball Federation of Castilla y León and that the Final Phase is not limited to the minimum required. The aim is to organize a Cup of Castilla y León in height and, for this, it has been decided, as a first step, to allow free admission to the six games that will be played at the San Andrés Sports Center. In that same place, in the office that the Soria Basketball Club has there, the Final Phase will be officially presented this Thursday, at 11:00. It is expected that this event will be attended by Carlos Martínez Mínguez, mayor of Soria. The Castilla y León Cup has Caja Rural de Soria as an official sponsor, as a collaborating entity with the Junta de Castilla y León and as sponsors with the Soria City Council, Transler, Semillas Adolfo Martínez, Campofrío and Embutidos Moreno Sáez.

The two games on Friday are joined by another two on Saturday afternoon and the remaining two will be played on Sunday morning. The first match on Saturday, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., will face the defending champion and La Flecha Basketball Club, and two hours later the match will begin between Transler and El Lagar Baloncesto Venta de Baños Restaurant. The final day, Sunday, also consists of two duels: at 10:00 the Palencia derby will begin and at 12:00 it will be when the Transler faces the La Flecha Basketball Club. The team from Valladolid finished sixth in the First Division, ahead, in that order, of Transler, Club Baloncesto Palencia and Restaurante El Lagar Baloncesto Venta de Baños. The previous edition of the Final Phase of the Castilla y León Cup was played in Palencia and there was a triple tie, which was then decided in favor of the host team.

This season, Transler has been able to defeat what will be its three rivals at the San Andrés Sports Center in the first competition of these characteristics to be held in Soria. The Soriano team beat La Flecha Basketball Club 68-60, Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club 69-62 and El Lagar Basketball Restaurant Venta de Baños 83-56. This last team was also surpassed by the Soria squad (71-74) in their own fiefdom. The players that Fernando Flores has for the Final Phase are: Sergio Redondo, Carlos Romano, Alejandro Hernández, Eneko Cueto, Eizan Fernández, Javier Zulaica, Gonzalo de Domingo, Miguel Erdozain, Martín de la Rosa, Sergio García, the junior Alonso Alvira -already settled in the first team- and cadet Hugo Soto, who debuted in the First Division at the age of 15.
