The Master Augusta 2022: Scottie Scheffler defends his number one ranking and conquers The Masters Augusta

UA new king for The Masters. Scottie Scheffler managed to conquer his first victory in a major, by beating by three strokes Rory McIlroy and thus finally put on the green jacket that leaves him in the history of the tournament.

The fight was not easy for Scheffler, who was pressured by Cameron Smith who was one stroke behind on the first few holes on Sunday, but Scheffler was able to get ahead to conquer his first crown.

“I never got that far. It was just a dream to be here and compete. I can’t express in words what that means. I will be able to come back here for life”, he said at the end of the tournament.

His only big problem was that he needed four putts from claiming victory. In the end he closed at 71 under for a three-shot victory over McIlroy, who holed out from the bunker for a final-round record-tying 64, though it wasn’t enough to get past Scheffler.

For its part, Tiger Woods made a spectacular comeback to the competitions after his accident last year, to stay in 47th place, one of his worst participations, but which meant a miracle after he almost retired permanently due to the shock complications.

Scheffler finished with 278, 10 under par, and won $2.7 million from the prizes of 15 million dollars.
