the Ballon d’Or for Mané? Klopp’s response

Tombstone Wednesday night from Villarreal to Anfield (2-0), in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League, Liverpool was able to count on Sadio Mané, author of the second goal on a pass from Mohamed Salah.

Reds manager Jürgen Klopp has been asked by reporters about the Senegal striker’s chances of winning the next Ballon d’Or. If he paid tribute to the former Messin, the German technician thinks that the Mersey club must win the C1 to allow the 30-year-old center forward to succeed Lionel Messi.

“Sadio is an exceptional player. I have nothing to do with the Ballon d’Or and that sort of thing. He is a world class player. He still had a very good game. But I don’t understand how you can ask me this question when the season is not over. Historically, you have to earn something to win the Ballon d’Or. If you’re not Messi or Ronaldo, you probably have to win the Champions League, which we haven’t done yet. Give us a few weeks and we’ll see. Sadio wants to help the team and that’s what I like.
