Sport reaches the natural environment thanks to the Granada City Council

The Department of Sports of the Granada City Hall completes its offer of sports in nature after having reached an agreement with thirty active tourism companies that add their experience to that of the City Council to promote activities in the natural environment.

The mayor of Granada, Francisco Cuencarecognized this Tuesday in the presentation of the agreement “the work carried out by these companies to enhance the natural jewels that Granada has.”



“With their activity they reflect the richness of our natural environment. Keep in mind that just a few kilometers from the capital we have places of great beauty both in media and in high mountain and also in the mar and in our rivers. With this initiative we want to be part of the opportunities that active tourism companies offer to Granadans and visitors”. he added.

José Antonio Huertas, the Councilor for Sports of the Granada City Council, stressed that “with this initiative, the Granada City Council expands its proposal with more than two hundred activities”.

Hiking, trekking, mountain biking, horse riding, horseback riding, diving, snow, via ferrata, abseiling, canyoningarchery, ecotourism, astronomical tourism, guided tours, kayaking, paddle surfing, boats, snorkeling, water biking, 4×4, quads, golf, jet skis, camps and activities for children, paragliding, organized trips and multi-day routes, among others, are some of these activities.

Elisabeth Castro, from Multiocio; Luis Linde, from Zen Parapente, and Tomás Vélez, from Multiaventura Alpujarra, companies participating in this initiative, agreed to point out “the diversity of activities offered by the natural environment in Granada and the added value that this entails for our tourist offer”.

The program It is open to the incorporation of new companies at any time.

In the coming days, the website and social networks of the Department of Sports will offer all the information and links necessary so that each interested user decides the activity he wants to carry out and the company he chooses for its development.

This offer is added to the one that already has the Department of Sports in the ski campaign in which this year 8,000 ski passes to Granada have participated with a 50% discount on the rate price.

In addition, 155 people have skied with the Granada City Council in weekend courses and 1,234 schoolchildren from 22 schools. In this program school skiing 59 teachers have participated and students with disabilities have also been attended.
