Shkodran Mustafi: German soccer world champion apparently robbed

Shkodran Mustafi has been under contract with Spanish club UD Levante for almost eight months. The central defender is only a substitute and has now experienced a setback off the field.

German 2014 World Champion Shkodran Mustafi has been severely robbed at his villa while he was present himself.

This was confirmed to the SID by the main command of the Guardia Civil (Spanish police unit) in Valencia. “Investigations are ongoing,” said a spokeswoman on Tuesday.

Mustafi himself told the “Bild” newspaper: “I can confirm the incident, but I don’t want to comment on it because I don’t want to disrupt the investigation, but I’m more or less fine.”

The Spanish newspaper Levante writes that “jewellery, cash, branded bags and other items” worth almost one million euros were stolen during the night from Sunday to Monday.

Social media as a spying aid

Mustafi (30), who plays for UD Levante and lives in Betera near Valencia, noticed the thieves after half an hour and made them flee. The police assume that Mustafi’s house was scouted through photos on his social media profiles.

The burglars gained access to the property via a neighboring golf course and entered through a balcony window. It was said that Mustafi had filed a complaint.
