Schreuder waves away Ajax reunion: ‘Real scenario that I will become an assistant again’

For Dick Schreuder it is not an option to stand in front of the group at Ajax together with his brother Alfred Schreuder next season. In the past, the PEC Zwolle trainer was the right-hand man of his younger brother, but a reunion is not on the agenda, he says.

Due to the departure of Erik ten Hag to Manchester United, Ajax has started the search for a successor. The name of Club Brugge coach Schreuder fell in that search. RTV Oost asks Dick Schreuder whether he would like to be his brother’s assistant coach at Ajax next season, just like with Hoffenheim. “It is a realistic scenario that I will become an assistant to him again, but that is completely out of the question now. He is busy with Club Brugge and I have my hands full with PEC Zwolle.”

The PEC coach still has a contract until the summer of 2023, although he cannot say for sure whether he will still be working in Overijssel after this season. “It is never excluded in football. I have experienced that before at Hoffenheim. I have experienced enough in football, but the basic principle is that I will continue here at PEC Zwolle.”
