Sarah-Léonie Cysique vice-champion of Europe in -57 kg

Third medal this Friday for the French women’s team in Sofia, the second in silver.

Frenchwoman Sarah-Leonie Cysique, Olympic vice-champion in Tokyo, won the silver medal at the European Judo Championships in the -57 kg category on Friday in Sofia. Cysique lost in the final against the Israeli Timna Nelson Levy on a waza-ari scored after 2 minutes of combat.

The 23-year-old Frenchwoman had ideally managed her fights on the way to the final but was surprised on the edge of the tatami by the power of the Israeli, who made her bend over a spectacular uchi-mata. Exempted from the first round, Cysique had taken over the Bosnian Andjela Samardzic for her entry into the running, before dominating the Belgian Mina Libeer and the Georgian Eteri Liparteliani.
