The president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Antonio Acosta, welcomed the initiative of the Santo Domingo Este City Council (ASDE) to celebrate the Third Municipal Games, a youth festival that will bring together more than four thousand athletes in 27 disciplines from June 14 to 14. of July.
“The Olympic Committee will be giving him the support that is needed for these games to be held successfully. Everything that is sport has our support, ”he said.
“All provinces must have their development, their sports promotion and for this reason we strongly support the Municipal Games in the eastern zone,” said “Colin” Acosta. “It’s youth, it’s sport and it’s what we seek.”
The third edition of the fair will be inaugurated at the Parque del Este Sports Complex. It was originally scheduled to take place in September of last year, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Roberto Neris, director of Sports of the Santo Domingo Este City Council, reported that today, starting at two in the afternoon, playoffs will be held in the baseball and softball disciplines of the municipality’s District Three to define the 12 who will participate in the contest. .
Neris reported that at two in the afternoon they will begin at the María del Mar stadium, in the Los Frailes sector. Previously, a simple ceremony will be held that will include the throwing of the first ball by Angela De Jesús Henríquez Peña, deputy mayor of ASDE.
Jeimy Núñez, general secretary of ASDE, will do the same at seven o’clock at night in the park of the Darío Contreras hospital.
