The doubles Selena Piek/Robintabeling (mixed) and Ruben Jille/Ties van der Lecq (men) have qualified for the semi-finals at the European Badminton Championships in Madrid (Spain).
With this, both couples are assured of a medal.
Comeback
In the mixed doubles, Robintabeling and Selena Piek (WR-21) against Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje (WR-14) from Denmark lost the first game 21-18. After that, the Orange duo came into the game better and then won the match 21-17 and 21-14. In the semifinals they will compete against the French couple Gicquel/Delrue.
In the men’s doubles Ruben Jille and Ties van der Lecq (WR-47) steamed solidly to the last four. The Dutch duo won 21-13 against Norwegians Vegard Rikheim and Torjus Flaatten (WR-74) twice.
Fighting down
Unfortunately for Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen (WR-45) the curtain fell in the quarterfinals. The Dutch women sold their skin dearly, but lost 21-16 and 21-13 to the first seeded Bulgarian sisters Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva (WR-9).
