Much acclaimed opening victory for the judo team Holten

Oberhausen.
At the start of the 2nd Bundesliga, the judo team Holten celebrated a fine 9:5 win against SV Nienhagen.

Successful start to the second division: That went in front of a home crowd Judo Team Holten a convincing 9:5 win against the SV Nienhagen from Lower Saxony. In all 14 fights, the people from Holten showed themselves from their best side: aggressive, motivated and very concentrated. But the guests also wanted to have a say.

While Denny Koppers (-73 kg) made short work of his opponent as so often in the first match of the day and won after only twelve seconds of fighting with a deep Seoi-nage Ippon, then used it Find Bittscheidt (-66 kg) and newcomer Max worlds (+100 kg) almost the entire fight time of four minutes to also win ippon and bring home a strongly defended Waza-ari lead.

The games -81 and -90, in which Stephan Sommer and Lars Gajda hit the mat for the JTH. Despite an early waza-ari lead from Gajda and a tireless effort from Sommer, it was here that Nienhagen recorded his first two points.

Tight again at the break

The comfortable 3:0 lead melted to 3:2. Now nerves were required.

Either Christian Beckman (-100) as well Janson Wong (-60) fought thrilling fights. Beckmann closed the sack with ippon after almost three minutes of fighting, Wong didn’t give up after a hard-earned waza-ari lead with only one minute of fighting left and finally 44 seconds before the end with a second waza-ari score with the victory rewards: 5:2 at halftime for the JTH.

The trend towards hard-won but deserved victory continued after the break in the second half of the season. Although the people of Holten never left any doubt that they wanted and were able to keep the upper hand that day, Nienhagen resolutely opposed it.

Koppers started the second round with the next win

Koppers again won the opening match, but this time his opponent defied him for two minutes of fighting time. With two waza-ari, Koppers left the mat. Bittscheidt particularly excited the Holten fans and went to the Golden Score, which he was motivated to tiptoe and won after 36 seconds Ippon. “That was a really strong fight from Finn,” commented the JTH coach Ralf Najdowski subsequently.

Beckmann did the same as his teammate and got his decisive point after 45 seconds in overtime. Before that, he had already developed a waza-ari lead, but his opponent equalized. Gajda made it exciting too, converting his waza-ari lead into victory just six seconds before the end of regular time. Before that, the +100 had deployed to worlds Valentino Massanga and the one coming for summer -81 Dirk Muehmer were left behind in two games that were also at eye level.

In the last encounter of the day, the lightweights -60 kg whirled like two wisps over the tatami, initially with an advantage for Wong from Neu-Holten. After intensive deliberation, the referees finally rated a strong action by his Nienhagen opponent as Ippon. Holten lost this fight, but this did not change the overall victory for the JTH.

Ralf Najdowski: “The level was good”

Coach Najdowski was correspondingly satisfied, but with regard to the upcoming days of fighting against experienced league teams, he also demands not to become neglectful: “The level shown was good. Now it’s time to use the drive.” The next day of fighting on May 14th takes Oberhausen to Braunschweig.
