Metz recovers a Cameroonian striker released in Russia

Cameroonian striker Didier Lamkel Zé, who had been loaned by Royal Antwerp (Belgian first division) to FC Khimki, has left the Russian club and will finish this season in Metz, the Moselle Ligue 1 club announced on Friday. The 25-year-old Cameroonian international (1 cap), who had been training in Metz since mid-March, was released from his loan to FC Khimki following the conflict in Ukraine. “He has been authorized by the various football authorities to commit to a new club“, specifies the Moselle club about the possibility offered to foreign players under contract with Russian and Ukrainian clubs to finish this season elsewhere.

Lamkel Zé is operational, according to coach Frédéric Antonetti, and should appear in the group on Sunday against Monaco, on behalf of the 30th day of L1. The 1.92 m Cameroonian striker has already evolved in France, in Lille under 19 and in the reserve team (2015-16), and in Niort (2016-18) in L2.
