Masters 1000 Monte Carlo: Sinner comes back and submits the runner-up Rublev

El italiano Jannik Sinnerninth favourite, ended the aspirations of the Russian Andrey Rublev, finalist in the last edition, when climbing and win in three sets (5-7, 6-1 and 6-3) to place for the first time in the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000.

The 20-year-old transalpine player, one of the strongest revelations in current tennis, defeated the intentions of his rival, winner this year in Dubai and Marseille who played the 2021 final at the Monegasque Country Club, surpassed by the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Russian, who was not able to stop Sinner’s push, will not repeat that good performance. The tennis player from San Cndido turned the situation around and culminated his firm reaction with a victory that he signed after two hours and 22 minutes.

Jannik Sinner, twelfth in the ATP ranking, already has six titles in his history. But all on hard court. The victory over Rublev puts him back in the quarter-finals this season just as he did in Miami, Dubai and the Australian Open.

The Italian player aims to overcome that barrier and reach the first semi-finals of this season in the clash against the second seed, German Alexander Zverev who beat the Spaniard Pablo Carreo 6-2 and 7-5.
