In the game between Liverpool FC and Manchester United, the Reds fans give Cristiano Ronaldo goosebumps with their gesture. Coach Jürgen Klopp is visibly touched after the final whistle. And find emotional words.
Jürgen Klopp has praised Liverpool FC and Manchester United fans for their moving action for football star Cristiano Ronaldo. In the 7th minute of the Reds’ Premier League game against Ronaldo club Manchester United, all spectators in the famous stadium on Anfield Road applauded for around 60 seconds, showing their support for Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez after theirs expressing a heavy blow of fate.
“That’s exactly how football should be – all rivalries aside at this moment,” said Klopp, who had also applauded himself after Liverpool’s 4-0 win. “There’s only one thing that matters – and that was really a show of class. It was really a good night for anyone with a Liverpool heart.”
The 37-year-old Ronaldo mourns his partner for their son. The wording in a statement earlier this week suggested that he did not survive a twin birth. “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to have some hope and cheerfulness in this moment,” it said.
“That’s the worst that can happen,” said Ralf Rangnick. “We stand behind him. We are all with him. We wish him and his family that they are strong together,” the United coach assured his superstar of support
Defeat for Rangnick “humiliating”
The fan action for Ronaldo in the 7th minute alludes to the fact that the superstar has worn the shirt number 7 in the club and in the national team for years. All Liverpool and Manchester professionals wore black armbands.
Manchester United’s brutal defeat at the hands of old rivals Liverpool has prompted United manager Rangnick to deliver another blunt criticism. “It’s embarrassing and disappointing and demeaning,” Rangnick told the BBC after the 4-0 defeat. United had already lost the first leg in Manchester 0-5 and thus conceded more goals against Liverpool than ever before in a Premier League season.
