John Wall, the worst contract in NBA history?

John Wall will end the season without having played a single game. For the second time in three years. And that by choice. The All-Star point guard refused to occupy a role other than that of a holder within the young team of the Houston Rockets, in reconstruction around the promising Jalen Green and Kevin Porter JR. As a result, the two parties agreed to leave it in the closet for the whole year.

A fictitious $44 million job. In fact, he’s only played 40 games – last season – since signing his four-year €171million extension. That is more than 3 million the meeting. He now has an option at 47 million for the 2022-2023 financial year.

It’s hard to imagine any team — other than a desperate franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers — looking to win him back. The Rockets are therefore stuck with the worst contract in the NBA. Maybe even one of the worst of all time.
