‘It was not a fair fight at Feyenoord, I was not appreciated’

Mark Diemers thinks he was treated unfairly when he played at Feyenoord. He was not doubted internally, but the opinion of the outside world did bother him.

The midfielder was rented out by Feyenoord to Hannover 96 during the winter break and that step came just in time. “I quickly got a label at Feyenoord,” Diemers told ELF Voetbal . “I came from small Fortuna Sittard, hadn’t been able to show anything yet, but was already written off. It has not been a fair fight. I was appreciated internally, but that was less the case externally.”

The playmaker does not have to return to South Rotterdam after his rental period. “Although abroad has never been a childhood dream, Hanover 96’s interest came immediately. I would like to stay abroad. Whether that is in Hanover or somewhere else, I’ll see. Anyway, I like it. I live on in a hotel right now and stay there for the next few months. One thing is for sure: this adventure at Hannover 96 tastes like more of a foreign country.”
