In Guatemala, members of the National Badminton Federation were suspended for four years

The Guatemalan Olympic Committee (COG), dismissed the leaders of the National Badminton Federation, for generating a bad image of the federated sport and the country’s Olympic values.

The Guatemalan Olympic Committee, through a statement, the COG, made official the removal of all members of the Executive Committee of the National Badminton Federation.

In addition to being dismissed, these leaders may not hold office or participate in federated sporting events for four years, and they are:

Víctor Leonel Rodríguez, (Chairman), Jorge Luis Lara (Secretary), Donald Mauricio Paiz (Treasurer), Raúl Rodríguez (Member I) and Lesvin Aníbal Marroquín (Member II).

The dismissed leaders of the national Badminton federation were in complete rebellion by not heeding the calls made to them by the Ethics Committee, to present their evidence to the complaints they had made against the COG.

The former badminton leaders made a series of accusations against the General Assembly, and expressed their total rejection of the statutes of the Guatemalan Olympic Committee, likewise, they disregarded the authority of the International Olympic Committee, as the highest sports organization in the world, violating the current sports regulations, and the Olympic Charter.

Those dismissed questioned the statutes ratified and authorized by the IOC, and pointed out that they are not legitimate or authentic and that the appointment and swearing-in of the current Guatemalan Olympic Committee by the Assembly are anomalous, illegal and without transparency, among other remarks, according to the COG document.
