René Hake has been away from FC Utrecht for a few weeks now. Rick Kruys will take over his job until the end of the season. He indicates that he has had good cooperation with the dismissed coach.
“I really enjoyed working with René. We have also built up a good relationship. René called me with the message that he had been fired. He thought that the club management would then ask me if I wanted to take over,” says Kruys in conversation of Football International.
“I then asked him what he thought of it. He said: ‘I was also in that situation. I think you should always do it, that you should always go for that chance.’ That was good for me,” he continues. “After that, the club did indeed ask me to finish the job.”
“It was immediately said that they are looking for a new trainer. Simply because they cannot take the time to put trainers on hold,” explains Kruys. “If they find a suitable candidate, they want to continue with that. I understand that. I’m just going to do it my way, as best as possible.”
