Good tricolor production at the South American Youth Games “Rosario 2022″ – Polideportivo

The second day of competition of the “Rosario 2022″ Youth Games, in Argentina, was highly productive for the Paraguayan delegation.

* Tennis. Recounting, in tennis Daniel Vallejo met all expectations, debuting with a 4-6, 7-5 and 6-1 victory over Chilean Nicolás Villalón. Same situation for Leyla Brítez, who beat Chilean Antonia Vergara 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Both settled in the quarterfinals.

In women’s doubles, Leyla Brítez and María José Zarza eliminated the Brazilians Ana Candiotto and María Ferreira 6-2 and 6-4 to settle in the semifinals.

In men’s doubles Vergara and Vallejo beat the Brazilian duo of Joao Eduardo and Víctor Lunardi 6-4, 2-6 and 10-8 to settle in the semis.

Other results: Majo Zarza lost in singles to Bolivian Masha Giménez 6-3, 6-2.

For his part, Joao Eduardo from Brazil did the same with Martín Vergara (6-0, 4-6 and 6-3).

* archery. In archery, Ivanne Villalba and Gabriel Ortiz made an effort, but failed to position themselves on the podium.

* TKD. In taekwondo, Juan Gaona (-63 kg.) and Esteban Trébol (-73 kg.), were eliminated in the quarterfinals against Colombians Ronald Rosas and César Silva, respectively.

* beach volleyball. Ángel Palacios and Camilo Vargas lost to Argentina 2-0, with partials of 12-21 and 20-22 in favor of Facundo Doval and Marcos González.

Those who did win were the compatriots Denisse Álvarez and Fiorella Núñez, who defeated the Venezuelans Jenifer Lara and Victoria Canabal by a resounding double 21 to 2.

* swimming. Finalists emerged in swimming: Luana Alonso in the 50-meter backstroke, Astrid Caballero in the 100-meter breaststroke, Maximiliano Benítez in the 100-meter breaststroke, in addition to the mixed 4×100 freestyle relay by Ernesto González, Constanza Mareco, Fiorella Mateos and Duncan Cameron.

* Table tennis. In table tennis, Axel Bertolo only triumphed once, 4-0 against Panamanian Sammy Mercado. But then he lost to Jeremy Cedeno of Ecuador 4-2.

Marlene Núñez fell against Chilean Sofía Vega 4-0, Rebeca Cuenca vs. Macarena Reyes from Chile 4-0 and Elías Apud against Brazilian Leonardo Kenzo 4-0.

The sports that will see action today are: archery, 3×3 basketball, skating and artistic gymnastics, rugby 7, swimming, tennis, taekwondo, table tennis, beach volleyball and Olympic wrestling.
