Firmino replaces himself, Nunez plants his 6th … the new ranking of scorers

A ranking still dominated by Robert Lewandowski with 13 goals, but Karim Benzema, with his 12 goals, is the only one with more than 10 goals still in contention.

The Brazilian striker of the Reds Roberto Firmino, with a double against Benfica, took his total of goals to five in this edition of the Champions League, one unit less than the Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, author of a sixth and last goal for Benfica, eliminated.

Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City’s best attacking asset with six goals too, remained silent against Atletico (0-0). This did not prevent his Citizens from qualifying thanks to their 1-0 first leg victory.

At the top of the standings, Karim Benzema, author of a new goal with Real Madrid on Tuesday against Chelsea (2-3), remains one length behind Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, also a scorer against Villarreal (1 -1). But with the surprise elimination of Bayern Munich, the Polish gunner’s counter will no longer turn this season.

In the “historic” classification of the Champions League, Benzema (83 goals, including seven in the last three matches), can also aim for the podium, three goals behind Lewandowski (86). In front, Cristiano Ronaldo (140) and Lionel Messi (125) are untouchable.
