The end of the mandatory use of the mask for the spectator is the main novelty of tonight’s festival at the Municipal de Bergara, where Erik Jaka and Beñat Rezusta, framed in group B, kick off the Manomanista quarterfinals of First. With the requirement of the face mask in the frontons lifted for the first time since June 24, 2020, it is up to each ballplayer to put it on or not. The change in regulations leaves last Monday’s festival at Astelena in Eibar as the last one in which the mask was mandatory, at least for now.

Jaka was a betting favorite against a runner-up Rezusta last year. Odds of 70 to 100 below will be sung at the start. He weighs the condition of champion of 2020 and striker of the Lizartza manista, who comes from eliminating Irribarria in the second round. It is the debut of the defender from Bergara, seeded, in this edition. He plays at home, an issue that is not very well known if he benefits or harms. He will have the support of the public.

We hope that the Municipal presents an aspect more in keeping with its long and brilliant history than Tuesday’s on the occasion of the choice of material. The chipping on the left wall and on the front was worrying. ETB1 broadcasts the festival live, which kicks off with an 18-goal opening act for couples between Elezkano II-Gaskue and Irribarria-Tolosa.
