Colombian teams that no longer exist and played in the professional

In 1948 the game was played for the first time. Professional League in our country and in the first years there were several clubs that later disappeared. The main reason was the economic crisis that occurred after the time of ‘The Golden’ when the FIFA imposed sanctions on Colombia for having a ‘Pirate League’.

National University (From 1948 to 1952)

The university team, which played at the Alfonso López Pumarejo Stadium, was in the first 5 years of Colombian Professional Soccer. His best presentation was in 1949 when he was sixth.

Eleven Deportivo (From 1948 to 1951), Deportes Caldas (From 1948 to 1951), Deportivo Manizales (1952 and 1958) and Atlético Manizales (1954)

They were all clubs from Manizales that were born, then ended or merged to create another due to economic problems. Until 1961, the Once Caldas that lasts to date and was awarded the championship that had won Caldas Sports in 1950.

Boca Juniors of Cali (From 1949 to 1957)

Valle del Cauca team that was runner-up in 1951 and 1952. In addition, they were champions of a Colombia Cup. In 1957 he was one of those who suffered the economic crisis of several clubs and had to end. In 1987 it was refounded as the Soccer School where important players from our country have come out. In 2019 the University of Popayan he moved to Cali and started playing under the name of Boca Juniors.

Deportivo Barranquilla (1949)

The Junior It was runner-up in 1948, but due to differences between the leaders and the organizers of the championship, they did not participate in 1949. It was then that this team appeared that represented the city during that year.

Hurricane of Medellin (From 1949 to 1951)

It only lasted three years and in the middle of the 1951 championship he had to withdraw from the tournament. The teams that had to play against Huracán were given victory by WO

Sporting de Barranquilla (From 1950 to 1953 and from 1988 to 1991)

With the end of El Dorado, this club ended in 1953, but it reappeared in the League in 1988. Miguel Calero and Faryd Mondragón had some of their first experiences there as goalkeepers. In 1992 he had financial problems and he gave his record to Real Cartagena.

Samarios (1951 and 1952)

After a tour of the Hungarian Club through Colombian territory, several Hungarian players stayed in Santa Marta and Samarios was founded. He played in the 1951 and 1952 seasons and later Unión Magdalena was created to represent Santa Marta.

Freedom of Barranquilla (1956)

In 1954 and 1955 Barranquilla football was going through a crisis. Sporting had finished and Junior could not participate due to financial problems. It was then that the Libertad appeared for one season (1956).

Black Gold (1971)

Independiente Medellín could not play in 1971 due to economic problems and gave the card for that year to this team from Barrancabermeja.

Unicosta (1996-1997 and 1998)

He was born in 1995, a year later he rose and lasted two championships in the First Division. The Barranquilla club disappeared in 1999.

Uniautonomous (2014 and 2015)
