Berlin. Alba Berlin has celebrated its eighth consecutive victory in the Basketball Bundesliga. The German champions won on Wednesday after a convincing performance with 96:81 (56:42) against the Hamburg Towers. Alba remains the team with the fewest defeats and still has the best chance of finishing the main round as first in the table. Best Berlin throwers in front of 3347 spectators were Maodo Lo with 17 and Johannes Thiemann with 15 points. Maik Kotsar and Caleb Homesley each scored 16 points for Hamburg.

The Towers beat FC Bayern Munich last Sunday. So Alba was warned. Alba coach Israel Gonzales had to do without the sick center Christ Koumadje in addition to the long-term injured Marcus Eriksson.

At first, a good and fast-paced game developed. Thanks to the better hit rate, the Berliners were able to pull away to 28:21 at the end of the first quarter. Alba now increased defensively without losing the good rhythm in the offensive. The lead of the Berliners grew to 56:42 at the break.

At the beginning of the third quarter, Hamburg tried to defend more intensively. Alba was only briefly thrown out of rhythm by this. After a break and a 16:2 run, the capitals led by 22 points. The Towers now had nothing more to oppose. The Berliners played fast, fluid and variable. In the end, coach Gonzalez made a lot of changes, but the clear victory was no longer in danger.
