Erling Haaland (21) scores the three saddest goals of his career…
The BVB star scored a hat trick in the 3:4 defeat against Bochum on Saturday. During the game – at 4:03 p.m. – Mino Raiola’s family announced on Twitter the death of Haaland’s advisor and close confidant. Raiola was only 54 years old.
It is unclear whether Haaland knew about Raiola’s death before the game. In any case, the Norwegian celebrates his goals quite normally. When Haaland comes out of the stadium catacombs with his bag, his head is down. Team colleague Marwin Hitz (34) shakes hands with him. After a short wait, he gets into a car and drives away.
Around 9 p.m., Haaland then publishes an emotional farewell post on Instagram: a photo in which he and Raiola hug each other warmly while both grin happily at the camera. The BVB star writes in English and with a red heart: “The best”.
While Haaland mourns his advisor, Dortmund coach Marco Rose (45) complains about the media’s irreverent handling of the sad news.
Rose when asked by BILD: “I’m being completely honest. I am now surprised by the information. I want to say it relatively clearly: what has happened in the last few days, how the topic has been dealt with, was just disgusting. I can only offer my condolences and wish the family and friends a lot of strength for the next few days. And give the time to mourn. Otherwise, I don’t want to say anything about it.”
What Rose means: Italian media had already reported Raiola’s death on Thursday, which turned out to be false. Raiola himself denied the message on Twitter: “Current health status for those who care: I’m pissed off that they’re killing me for the second time in four months. I seem able to resurrect.”
But now the stroke of fate is official. The future of Haaland, who can leave BVB in the summer by clause for 75 million euros plus bonuses, is still open. A decision should be made in a few weeks. He now has to meet without his advisor.
