After the embarrassing loss of the Champions League, the Bayern squad should be turned inside out. Marcel Sabitzer could also go again in the summer.
Germany’s serial champions are marching inexorably towards their tenth title in a row, but Munich were eliminated early in the DFB Cup. And in the Champions League, too, Villarreal lost 1-0 away and 1-1 in Munich.
Since then, things have been bubbling at Bayern, with shooting star trainer Julian Nagelsmann facing severe criticism. The 34-year-old even revealed he had received 450 death threats.
Four players are to go
Meanwhile, according to a report by “Sport1”, the Munich team is already planning a change in the squad in the summer. A cross-off list should already exist. There are prominent names on it. Above all, Marc Roca, who was never able to assert himself in central midfield, is associated with Betis Sevilla. Bouna Sarr is also to be handed over despite a contract that runs until 2024 – possibly to ex-club Marseille. Goalkeeper talent Christian Früchtl should also leave the club, the 22-year-old is dissatisfied with his role as number three, the 19-year-old striker Malik Tillmann should be loaned out to gain match practice. The departure of central defender Niklas Süle, who does not want to extend his contract, is already fixed.
List of exit candidates
In addition, there is a much more prominent list of players who could leave in the summer, although Bayern Munich do not necessarily want to give them up. Marcel Sabitzer can also be found on it. The ÖFB legionnaire played 23 games in the current season, mostly only had short appearances and fell short of expectations with one goal. There is no getting around the permanent staff in central midfield, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich. However, there are no concrete offers.
A departure is also possible with Robert Lewandowski. Rumors persisted for weeks that the Pole could move to Barcelona. Also because Bayern do not want to hold any talks about extending the contract, which expires in summer 2023, for the time being. DFB team player Serge Gnabry and Tanguy Nianzou are also on the list. Not, however, Leroy Sane, whom Coach Nagelsmann recently counted in publicity.
In any case, Bayern’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has a lot of work to do…
