Barça’s worst drowning record in Munich (59-52)

BarcelonaNot to forget Barça. The Barça team played a bad game at Bayern Munich (59-52) and could not qualify for the final four of the Euroleague (2-2). The poor record of the Catalan team, the worst in its history, ended with the chances of victory against a rival who repeated a great defensive strategy. The qualifier will be decided this Tuesday at the Palau Blaugrana.

Barça’s shooting percentages and lost balls became a slab for Barça. The bases of the Catalan team never knew how to reverse the situation. “We changed our face in 48 hours. We did a lot of bad things, especially in the launch, and we weren’t able to. We need to recover soon,” Sarunas Jasikevicius said.

“We weren’t right on the pitch, the shot was not good. We didn’t move the ball like we did the other day. They played their game, but they didn’t do anything special. They made a lot of defensive changes. “We have managed to find the man open, keep shooting and gain confidence. We have worked all season to win the track factor. I think with the help of the Palau Blaugrana, we will try give 200% to get the classification. We play everything with a face or cross “, said Àlex Abrines.

“I am very proud. We have made an incredible defense for 40 minutes,” said Andrea Trinchieri, the Italian coach who has managed to grow the Bayern Munich project. “We played a great game. We played as a team, with a lot of intensity,” said Nick Weiler-Babb. “The defense has allowed us to win this game,” admitted Vladimir Lucic.

Bayern Munich’s defense became a headache for Barça, who could only score 25 points in the first 20 minutes. The Barça team missed 19 of the 25 shots they tried during the first two quarters in which the initiative in the game was for the German team. The visitors only scored a triple before the break and this allowed the locals to close their defense and improve their self-esteem. The Euroleague runner-up, who lost by 12 points (29-17), never found a comfortable match at the Audi Dome (36-25).

The third quarter was a nightmare for Barça, who could only score nine points in ten minutes to forget. The Barça team added concentration errors to the shooting errors and soon found themselves with a worrying 19-point disadvantage (50-31). Without finding the excellence in attack, the local team was moving away on the scoreboard thanks to a defense that took a thumbs up from the visiting players. Without any argument to cling to, the Catalan team was only able to reduce the difference in a last stretch of the game in which there was no time left to complete the comeback.

Olympiacos were also unable to close their qualifying round for the World Cup final four from Belgrade and lost to AS Monaco (78-77). The Monegasque team was able to get an unexpected victory and tie the tie (2-2).
