Badminton: the superb acrobatic rescue of an Indonesian in the women’s doubles final

The women’s doubles badminton final took place this Tuesday during the Tokyo Olympics. Opposed to China, the Indonesians won in two sets (21-19, 21-15) and therefore won the Olympic gold medal. One of the big winners of the day, Apriyani Rahayugave us a magnificent acrobatic rescue.

The Chinese serve while the score is in favor of Indonesia at the start of the second set (4-2). On a smash of Jia Yifan, Grace manages to save the shuttle by passing his racket behind his back and thus relaunches the point that seemed lost. In slow motion, we can see even better the beauty of the Chinese woman’s rescue, the steering wheel having touched the leg of Grace before being saved.

Thanks to this superb move, the Indonesian duo won the point and won the game a few minutes later!
