“A sports festival” planned

Recently retired, a jack-of-all-trades in sport for many years (as a practitioner and leader), Alain Genre shares his first thoughts on his new commitment.

Why did you apply for the presidency of Asgu? First and foremost, I wanted to prevent the association from falling through. After so many years of work and dedication on the part of Patrice Monferran, everything had to be done to keep it going.

“The general state of mind is good”

What is your conception of Omnisports? Sport for everyone ! All licensees, whatever their levels, their ages, their skills, must have fun and find their account through their practice. I am in favor of the creation of new sections; moreover, we have been contacted for new disciplines. We now need to study its feasibility.

How do you envisage the operation and the future of Asgu? The Omnisports offers a framework that allows the sections to evolve in good conditions, with a certain autonomy. The current operating rules are therefore not going to change and I am very confident about this because, over the meetings we have held for a year, I have not felt that Omnisports is being questioned and the state of general spirit is good.

Projects for the year? A sports festival during the summer, with all disciplines, as well as two flea markets. I have also started working with the social center, in order to offer sports workshops to middle school students, once a week during the lunch break, from the start of the 2022 school year. I would also like to collaborate with the Adapei de la Nievre.

An immediate wish? Yes, find one or two vice-presidents, in order to flesh out the office, with all the other positions filled. Answer soon, during our next steering committee meeting.
