The DUC lost (85-70) against SLAC in the opening match of the Basketball Africa League.

The Dakar University Club (DUC) and the Guinean club Slac (Seydou Legacy Athlétique Club) faced off this Saturday in a boiling Dakar Arena, in the inaugural match of the second edition of the Basketball Africa League (Bal). If this first poster of the Ball showed the DUC as the home team, it would also have been true in the stands.

Active very early in their stands, DUC supporters came in force to support their club, which had great difficulty in getting rid of a stronger opponent. However, the “Students” were dominant during the first two quarters ((Q1 24-22, Q2 45-37), so a half.

The Guinean club came back to the score in the third quarter, before taking the lead. Mamadi Keïta and company took control in the third quarter and never let go. They perfectly targeted the usual strengths of Thierno Ibrahima Niang, notably depriving Jordan Aboudou of balloons inside.

Lacking rhythm at the start of the second half, the players of Parfait Adjivon suffered for a long time from the play of the players of the Seydou Legacy Athletic Club, often organized around the three-point line. Abel Abdourahmane and his partners saw their delay increase during the third quarter (11-32 Q3).

Despite the support of the public, the “Students” could not find the capacity to return to the level of the Guinean club. The final quarter allowed the SLAC basketball players to gain the upper hand in defense, to finally win (70-85).
