Rummenigge asks Nasser Al-Khelaïfi to stay at PSG and be patient

Former Bayern Munich boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke about the situation at Paris Saint-Germain, and took the opportunity to support Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

Recently retired, after having held the positions of vice president and then chairman of the board of directors of Bayern Munich for several years, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge keeps a close eye on football news. The Bavarian club legend spoke to our colleagues from the team and took the opportunity to give several pieces of advice and support the president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.

In this interview, Karl-Heinz Rummennigge was notably asked about the elimination of Paris Saint-Germain in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Real Madrid (3-2 aggregate score). This new failure on the European scene has brought a wave of criticism towards the capital club and mainly towards its boss, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, whom many want to see gone. But Karl-Heinz Rummennigge does not seem to agree and explains that the Qatari president should not leave his post, he who made PSG grow: “Where was PSG before Nasser? A club that had to be looked for a long time before finding it on the European map (…) Since then, it has attracted the biggest stars on the planet and is among the top six in the UEFA rankings».

The former boss of the Bavarian club also recalled that the investments, certainly substantial, did not necessarily bring in a European trophy, and that winning the Cup with big ears remained a long-term job: “PSG have an exceptional workforce but they have no patience. PSG must understand that it is simply impossible to win the C1 overnight, regardless of the investments made».
