Peña and Carrillo are Golden Glove – La Voz de la Frontera

Pitcher Miguel Peña and catcher Xorge Carrillo of Águilas de Mexicali were recognized as Gold Glove during the first announcement window of the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards, which reward the best players, by position, according to their defensive actions during the 2021-22 season of the Mexican Pacific League (LMP).

Peña and Carrillo, both elements with a vast trajectory with the feathered franchise, are joined by the Cuban Carlos Juan Viera from Cañeros de Los Mochis in the awards within the battery department.

Miguel Peña, Águilas’s left-handed pitcher, participated in 13 games and was involved on the defensive end in 16 opportunities, without making any mistakes in the process, finishing the season with a fielding percentage of 1,000; figures that he shares with Viera de Cañeros. He is Peña’s first Gold Glove.

Xorge Carrillo, already a historic catcher for Águilas, got his third Gold Glove awarded by Rawlings, after having won it in the 2016-17 and 2019-20 seasons. “The X Factor” was active in 52 games without making an error in 362 opportunities and 30 assists, in a total of 423 innings.
