Judo – Klosterneuburg’s next stop: Bundesliga

It is an absolute milestone in the history of the Judo Union Klosterneuburg. Together with the Galaxy Judo Tigers, the Klosterneuburg judokas compete as a competition community in the women’s national league. It already starts on May 7th.

“We will compete against clubs with prominent names such as Wimpassinger with Michaela Polleres, who won silver in Tokyo,” says chairman Robert Haas, who, on the occasion of the forthcoming start of the Bundesliga, attended the team and equipment presentation last Thursday together with sponsor Wolfgang Schuster invited to the Pfalzhof.

“I am enthusiastic about the diverse work of our Judo Union for our children and young people. And: Our judo women are on the threshold from competitive to top-class sport. They now need our full support,” says Wolfgang Schuster, explaining his commitment as a sponsor.

Women’s City Councilor Maria-Theresia Eder was also on site: “In the past and present, Klosterneuburg is a special place for very strong women. Our judoka are the next proof of that,” says Eder, City Councilor for Education, for the team, which consists mostly of schoolgirls.

The coach of the Bundesliga team is Olympic starter Sven Maresch, who himself was part of the German national team for 15 years: “The team is very young. Team competitions have a special dynamic in judo, everyone fights for everyone else. Everything is possible. An important opportunity to develop yourself further.”

“We would like to thank the municipality of Klosterneuburg that, starting this summer, we will have the training opportunities that will enable us to ensure our Bundesliga operations and future sporting successes on all levels in the long term,” said Chairman Haas, who would also like to compete with a men’s team soon .
