The 25-year-old Australian, ranked 30th in the world, started the final lap in the lead, tied with Andrew Evans, Matthew Millar and Blake Collyer.

But Hannah Green broke away from her competitors by making an eagle on the par five of the 10 ending by three strokes in advance without ever turning around.

“It’s an incredible feeling”Green said. “I had no intention of playing here. [après avoir remporté le Vic Open la semaine dernière]. I was going to go home to Perth but I think things happen for a reason. »

“I hope I can continue this momentum for the rest of my season. »

Young Western Australian amateur Hayden Hopewell came from a distance with eight birdies on a round of 65, to find himself tied with New Welshman Evans (70).

Young professional Grace Kim (68) gave another glimpse into her bright future by finishing tied with young New Zealander Momoka Kobori (69).

The tournament was part of Australia’s innovative PGA Players Series, which was introduced in early 2021.

In these tournaments, women and men compete on the same field – from fitted tees – for the same prize pool and a single trophy on both the PGA Tour of Australasia and WPGA Tour schedules.

The previous best result for a woman was Su Oh’s joint third place at TPS Victoria last year.
