Eupen ends 11-game winless streak, Roman Bezus saves La Gantoise

Eupen had to recover after his poor performance in Anderlecht in the semi-final second leg of the Belgian Cup on Thursday. The Pandas quickly opened the scoring via Gary Magnée with a shot at the entrance to the large rectangle (11th).

120 seconds later, Isaa Nuhu thought to double the bet but his goal was then canceled by the VAR for an offside position (13th). OHL let the storm pass and equalized shortly after the half hour via Mathieu Maertens (31st) who punctuated a nice collective movement.

Deprived of a goal in the first period, Nuhu finally put Eupen back in charge shortly after the break (49th). After a post from Sory Kaba for OHL, the German-speaking team took shelter for good via Smail Prevljak who took advantage of a recovery from Boris Lambert to plant the 3-1 (71st).

In the standings, Eupen gives itself air at the bottom of the table by moving to 15th place with 31 points, eight more than Seraing, 17th and roadblocker. OHL is 12th with 37 points.

On their way to qualifying for the final of the Belgian Cup, the Gantois made a good start to the match and hit the mark on their first opportunity. Launched in depth, Yonas Malede served Andrew Hjulsager who then slipped the leather to Laurent Depoitre who pushed the ball into the empty goal (12th).

Dominant in the first half, Ghent failed to increase their lead before the break. In the second half, Zulte Waregem returned to the pitch with the best intentions. Jelle Vossen found the amount of Davy Roef’s goal (69th) before finally equalizing a few seconds later with a volley (70th).

As we headed for a split, La Gantoise was saved by its Ukrainian player Roman Bezus who had followed a strike from Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe repelled by Sammy Bossut (90th + 4).

In the standings, Ghent remains fifth with 52 points, three less than Anderlecht, fourth. Zulte Waregem remains stuck in 16th place with 30 points.
