A wise observer of the world of football, Michel Platini delivered his opinion on the end of the careers of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi without detour.

Respectively aged thirty-seven and thirty-four, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are slowly but surely coming to the end of their way to the highest level of world football. The former Madrid and the former Barcelona dominated their discipline for more than a decade, enquiring trophies, records and other Ballon d’Or. In the summer of 2021, they both changed clubs, with CR7 returning to Manchester United, “La Pulga” committing to PSG. Choices that leave Michel Platini a bit skeptical.

MU and PSG, bad choices?

The former glory of tricolor football, also a figure of Juventus, delivered his judgment on the end of the career of the two world stars. In the columns of Sports Gazettethe former UEFA boss played fair: “I said stop at thirty-two. I could have gone to play for Barça or OM, but I wanted people to identify me with the club with which we had written history. Ronaldo was Real (Madrid) and Messi was Barca. I wouldn’t have gone to another (European) club. I would have rather chosen the United States or China.
