Real Madrid stopped by Villarreal, a few minutes for Hazard, Bale holder but ineffective

Eden Hazard was entitled to a few minutes of play on Saturday afternoon during the trip from Real Madrid to Villarreal. Initially on the bench while Carlo Ancelotti aligned Asensio and vinicius on the wings as well as Gareth Bale at the forefront of his attack, Eden Hazard ended up getting into the game in the 82nd minute. Real Madrid, however, failed to unlock the scorer and the score remained 0-0.

The Belgian was however almost decisive in stoppage time. He indeed served his teammate Luka Jovic on the offside wire but the Serb saw his lob land on the crossbar (90th + 2).

With 54 points, Real Madrid retains a reassuring lead over its main pursuers, Sevilla FC (50 pts) and Betis Sevilla (40 points). Barça (2 games less) follows in 4th place with 38 points, ahead of Villarreal (36 pts).

Tuesday evening, Paris Saint-Germain begin their journey in the round of 16 of the Champions League with the first leg scheduled at the Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain.
