NFL: Roger Goodell would negotiate a new contract

National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell is negotiating a contract extension to stay on top of the league, reports the Sports Business Journal.

Citing several sources, the Sports Business Journal writes that under this new agreement, Goodell could remain in office until 2024. He signed his last contract in 2017.

“He’s at the top of his game right now,” said one owner. Why would we want him to leave? »

Goodell reportedly earned approximately $63.9 million in each of the past two seasons.

Goodell was appointed to the role in 2006 and his contract was extended in 2009, 2012 and 2017.

The NFL is currently in an extremely enviable position: it has not canceled any games due to COVID, a $110 billion agreement has been signed with broadcasters and the collective agreement will expire in 2030.
