By scoring 26 points in the 117-115 loss to the Golden State Warriors, James established a new total of 44,152 points, three points more than Abdul-Jabbar. The former center of the Milwaukee Bucks, then of the Lakers, still sits at the top of the ranking of the best scorers in the history of the league in the regular season, with 38,387 points, in front of the former strong wing of the Utah Jazz, Karl Malone (36,928 pts) and… James (36,526 pts).

« LBJ » could not prevent the defeat of his team, however, failing to equalize at 117-117 by missing two out of three free throws with only two seconds left to play. He voluntarily aimed for the hoop on his third throw hoping to give his team a final possession, in vain as the Warriors managed to get the ball out of the racket. With 26 wins and 31 losses, the Lakers are currently ninth in the Western Conference.
