MLB: Only one day left to avoid the cancellation of games

Despite lengthy talks between MLB and the Players Association on Sunday, the two sides remain a long way from a collective bargaining agreement, a source told ESPN.

A meeting took place for more than 6 hours, the day before the deadline which was set before the triggering of the cancellation of matches.

If an agreement does not occur by the end of the day of negotiations on Monday, the regular season opener scheduled for March 31 will be canceled, and possibly even others that week.

The league wants to benefit from approximately four weeks of training camp before starting the season, hence the establishment of a deadline of February 28.

Other negotiation sessions will take place from Monday morning. According to a source, the two parties are ready to stay at the table for as long as it takes to reach an agreement. Sunday’s session would have given rise to “productive” discussions without, however, obtaining concrete results on the main economic issues.
