Joe Burrow is one win away from becoming the first quarterback in history to win the Heisman Trophy, an NCAA national title and a Super Bowl ring.

To become a legend, the 25-year-old will have to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to the promised land on Sunday, February 13, when they will play for the Vince-Lombardi trophy against the Los Angeles Rams.

“If you had told me we were going to be in the Super Bowl at the start of the season, I would have told you that you were crazy,” Burrow said Sunday after his team’s 27-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Finals. of the American Association.

“After playing the entire season, I can say that there is nothing that surprises me anymore. I know what kind of guys we have in the dressing room and what kind of team we are. We now have a victory to go for, ”continued the first player selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.

To get their ticket to Super Bowl LVI, the Bengals had to close an 18-point deficit. At one point, many believed victory was in the pocket for the Chiefs, but not Burrow.

“I never thought we were out of the game, but obviously falling 21-3 was not an ideal situation,” he said with a smile.

A profitable strategy

Burrow was the key player in that comeback, throwing two touchdown passes and a throw for a two-point conversion. He also demonstrated all his intelligence by getting important first tries with his legs.

After the game, head coach Zac Taylor revealed his quarterback told him his intention was to run for over 100 yards against the Chiefs. Burrow went on to explain that he barely used the ground game when the Bengals defeated Kansas City in the regular season. He felt like this aspect of his game would not be part of his rivals’ game plan. The former LSU Tigers was right. His 25 rushing yards proved to be critical in the victory.

“He’s a guy who finds a way to make plays when nothing good seems to be happening,” said the Bengals head coach.

It now remains to be seen whether Burrow will once again be able to spot weakness in his next opponents and write the football history book.
