From heaven to hell for Beerschot that loses to Sporting Charleroi

Five minutes! Sporting Charleroi needed that to push Beerschot from heaven to hell.

Fresh, dry, the fans with drinks and food and finally back visiting supporters. An ideal Friday evening to start the weekend at the Kiel.

First half

It was not easy for Sporting Charleroi in the first half. After 6 minutes they saw Bessile drop out and after 20 minutes their goalkeeper Koffi followed. Fortunately, they had already taken the lead before that. This via Bayo Vakoun who walked off Halaimia and placed the ball wonderfully next to Vanhamel.

Beerschot’s reaction was not long in coming. Who else but the new crowd favorite of Beerschot was the goalscorer. Sebaoui got the ball into the rectangle and didn’t hesitate. He shot nicely across the corner and after 25 minutes the plates were back in balance.

After that, the first half fell into a lot of sloppiness that did not benefit football. The best chance came for Beerschot. Vaca with the pass to Shankland, but the Scottish striker shot at substitute goalkeeper Kamara.

Second half

We were only five minutes on the road and there was the lead on the board for Beerschot. Shankland kept up with the ball and with a measured cross he reached Dom. This one didn’t hesitate and shot past Kamara in one go. The Kiel exploded and Beerschot took the lead.

Dom Joren

Sporting Charleroi did not get into the match. It was the home team that was the better team and that emphatically went looking for a third goal. Sebaoui, Dom and Shankland, in particular, were doing a lot of work up front. The visitors got no further than Badji’s too weak shot.

The attack waves of the visitors follow each other in quick succession. Kayembe with a good cross and Radic deviated the ball unhappily and so the signs were level again. Barely five minutes later, Sporting Charleroi took the lead. Zorgane got the ball in the 16-meter and blasted past Vanhamel.

Beerschot was struck, but tried to fight back. They moved systematically, but could no longer make a fist.

Sporting Charleroi knocked out Beerschot in just five minutes!
