In the village of Puerto Venus, jurisdiction of Nariño, the 47th edition of the Kings Soccer Cup was held, after almost two years of suspension due to the pandemic.
A large attendance of visitors and tourists accompanied the event last weekend where 14 teams from the departments of Antioquia and Caldas participated. The champion of the tournament was the Colonia de Nariño team, after playing the final with Puerto Venus, a match that ended tied 2-2. The championship was defined by charges from the twelve steps. Nariño beat Puerto Venus 5-3, proclaiming himself champion of the XLVII Kings Cup in 2022.
Colonia de Nariño retained the title obtained in 2020. During the event, the Women’s Cup was also played, won by the young women of Nariño and the seedbed meeting ended tied. During the night of Sunday, in the coliseum of the corregimiento, the awards and closing ceremony were held with the delivery of trophies, medals and recognitions to the athletes. The popular festival was animated by the national group Los Relicarios.
One of the attractions of the Reyes Cup was, without a doubt, the presence of former professional player Luis Carlos Arias from Colonia de Nariño, who played professional soccer with Independiente Medellín and Independiente Santafé.
The 47th Copa Reyes was sponsored by the Mayor’s Office of Nariño, private companies and the community of Puerto Venus.
