University of Sancti Spiritus and its efforts for better government management

Sancti Spíritus, Jan 21 (ACN) Seek more spaces for popular participation and control and continue promoting strategic alliances between universities such as the Jose Marti Perez, from Holy Spirit, with other actors and institutions of the province and of Cuba, constitute central axes to give more pertinent answers to the problems that the Island faces today.

In an exchange of mutual learning with professors and researchers, many of them young, from the house of higher studies held this Thursday, here, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, returned again and again to the vision of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz regarding People’s Power.

Key concepts such as socialist democracy emerged at the meeting in which the institution presented its projects to implement the government management system based on innovation and science and in which much was said about the use of renewable energy sources, scientific contributions in confronting COVID-19 and in food production.

One might wonder how much more this center can do to help the territory to specify new ways of doing things, to promote participation -and more than that- popular control, stressed the president who was accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization and Politics of Cadres, in the second day of the integral visit of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and its auxiliary structure to the province.

If we make progress in these aspects, in the coming years we will be able to provide a better response to society’s problems, insisted Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who pointed out that although the community revival program must continue to recover and revitalize physical spaces, it is important and necessary to do it also on the spiritual plane.

The integral visit of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and its auxiliary structure to Sancti Spíritus, the first to be carried out in a territory after the 8th Congress, covers, in turn, a hundred production and service centers and more than 25 communities , but it also includes meetings with the militancy and an evaluation of the state of fulfillment of the agreements emanating from the great event.
