Turkish football world shocked by death of Ahmet Çalik (27)

The Turkish football world mourns the death of Ahmet Çalik (27). The eight-time international was killed in a car accident on Tuesday morning.

Çalik lost control of the steering wheel around 9 a.m. local time. He died on the spot. Çalik was alone in his car.

Çalik played for Galatasaray and Konyaspor in recent years. The two clubs reacted to the tragic news. Çalik started his career at Gençlerbirligi, before moving to Galatasaray in 2017. Konyaspor brought him in on a free transfer last year.

Last Sunday, Çalik played 90 minutes at Konyaspor in the league match with Sivasspor. He played eighteen games this season for the number two of the Süper Lig. Between 2015 and 2017, Çalik played eight caps for Turkey and in 2016 he took part in the European Championship.
